The First Strategy

Most advice says build first, ask later. This framework starts with the sale.

The First Strategy is a simple, three-principle system for testing a business idea using real money and real refusals — not opinions.

Why this exists

First-time entrepreneurs fail one of two ways

Jumping in without any real test of the risk, or over-researching until nothing ever launches. The First Strategy gives you a small, cheap way to find out what's actually true before you commit to either extreme.

Proof only counts if it's real: a completed sale, a clear refusal, or a deposit. Opinions, survey answers, and "sounds like a good idea" from a friend don't count — they don't involve real money or a real commitment.

The three principles

Revenue First. Free First. Impact First.

Revenue First

The only signal that counts is a real transaction. If someone hands you money, or clearly refuses to, you've learned something real.

Free First

Run the free version of a test before you spend any money on it. A text message or a real conversation can test most ideas well enough to start.

Impact First

When you have more than one thing you could test, test the one most likely to move your business forward.
